| Spotting the right opportunity |
 |
|
In 1993, import policies
were liberalised, which permitted companies to import at concessional
duties against a commitment to export. Tyre manufacturers were
keen to modernise their factories through this policy.
Recognising an opportunity to establish profitable ties, Prime
Progression initiated a joint venture. |
A German company offering
pre-owned equipment was identified to partner with an Indian
company.
The latter generated inquiries and bought the equipment from
their German partners who provided technical assistance for
reconditioning. The result: Indian manufacturers bought the
equipment under warranty, at competitive prices.
We managed the operations for five years. |

| Facilitating product sourcing |
 |
When a buyer from UK
wished to set up a business, distributing auto parts for the
after-market, he chose India and Prime Progression. Since 1998,
we have supported the venture, monitoring over 20 vendors, auditing
quality, and consolidating shipments.
In a non-competing arrangement, we source moulded rubber parts,
pressed components etc. for sale to leading automotive OEMs,
through a client in the UK. |

 |
| Product design and development |
 |
We help design and procure a range of public
guidance systems for a client in New Zealand. These systems are now
sold in New Zealand, Australia etc.
For a company in the UK, we manage the manufacture and supply of plastic
components used in airports in the UK, Europe and USA. |
 |
| Identifying partners and outsourcing production |
 |
|
|
For a UK-based logistics
provider who needed custom designed packaging accessories, we
motivated Indian entrepreneurs to invest in manufacturing units,
facilitated the transfer of technology, coordinated communications,
monitored cost and quality, consolidated shipments and ensured
that both parties’ requirements were met. We provide a
single window management system: orders received are produced
and dispatched to distributors all over the world. More than
350 people are currently employed under this arrangement. |

 |
| Setting up and monitoring production |
 |
| A South African company sought the “best
spot in the world” to expand their production. They located
India, through us. After setting up a dedicated production facility,
we now ensure that the products and services offered meet their international
standards. |
 |
| Market surveys |
 |
| For
a leading manufacturer from the USA, we surveyed the Indian
market for the feasibility of setting up a manufacturing unit
through a tie-up with an Indian company. An exhaustive survey
revealed the market was not yet ready for the activity. |

| Establishing and overseeing ventures |
 |
| We helped a manufacturer of fitness equipment
from the UK establish market presence in India. Later we helped them
find and form a joint venture partnership with an Indian partner.
Under Prime Progression’s supervision, they set up modern fitness
centres, focussing on the institutional segment. |
